Governor Udom lifts Akwa with N100m
Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Emmanuel has moved to fire up the players of Akwa United ahead of today,s Federation Cup final against Lobi Stars at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
Emmanuel while charging the players to do the state proud in an interactive session held in Uyo disclosed that he has released N100m to the team to enable it settle all outstanding financial commitments.
The governor said he looks forward to the Uyo Nest of Champions hosting continental football next season. He pointed out that the state will be a good advertisement for the country when it comes to African football as it boasts the best arena in Nigeria today. Emmanuel who promised to be in Lagos to cheer the team and God willing kiss the nation,s most glamorous soccer diadem stated:”I m sure the cup is coming to Akwa Ibom for the very first time. We are going to make history on Sunday.”
The state sports commissioner, Monday Uko while thanking the Governor for his support said the team is in high spirit and would carry the form that saw them beat the same Lobi last weekend in Uyo into today’s final.
